With this Cromwell D-Day Special we have combined the Tamiya Cromwell MkIV plastic kit with our 75mm Deep Wading Kit (A048) and our Porpoise Ammunition Sled (A004) to give a fully prepared D-Day Cromwell as it would have been ready to hit the beach.
A048- A comprehensive deep wading set for Tamiya 1/35th scale Cromwell/Centaur kits with brass trunking for hull and turret, and blanking plates, and resin covers for periscopes, machine gun, visor and main gun. Designed by Derek Hansen for a 75mm Gun armed vehicle. Standard issue for D-Day vehicles.
A004- A complete 1/35th scale resin cast kit of the WW-II standard No-2 Mk-1 tank ammunition sledge as fitted to Sherman, Churchill, Cromwell, and most well known to Centaur, master patterns by Derek Hansen.
Porpoise was issued to tank units for beach landings and river crossings, and was issued in large numbers on D-day, and all Royal Marines Armoured Support Group (RMASG) Centaur tanks towed them. The sledge actually floats behind the tank when in deep water, and the ammunition is stored in four water-tight compartments. Model and pictures by John Murphy.
