Permalink to A193This set contains 12 Methyl Bromide fire extinguishers of the ‘Essex’ company’s design from the 1930’s used on British War Department (WD) vehicles until the chemical was banned as a toxic substance in the 1960’s.
In war time these were normally green (either deep bronze or mid bronze) with the metal holder being painted the vehicle colour. The striking cap and nozzle were bronze and some had a small bronze/gold label visible. In peacetime they were painted orange.
This set was researched and designed by Rob Tearle.
