Scammell EXPLORER
The Scammell Explorer 6x6 Heavy Breakdown Tractor FV11301 was developed in the 1940’s and was in service with the British Army from early 1950. It was a progression from the WW2 Scammell Pioneer SV/2S 6x4 Recovery tractor but fitted with a set back driven front axle and Meadows 10.3 litre 6-cyl engine. The extra power and speed combined with 6x6 drive resulted in one of the most capable cross country vehicles ever made.This distinctive vehicle served in all British Army Theatres of operation including Korea. Many are still running today in private ownership.
This very extensive 1/35th scale model kit by David Jane and Rob Tearle comes with full engine and transmission detail, extensive stowage (with some optional internal details, and etched brass detailing set. Alternative etched or cast front guard are also provided along with cast transparent headlights, spotlight, turn and tail indicators. A comprehensive set of full colour decals is also included providing a good selection of markings.
