Loyd Carrier Towing (6 Pr.)
The Loyd Carrier was first introduced in 1940, and became an indispensable vehicle in WW2 British and Commonwealth Infantry, Artillery and Tank units in a multitude of roles. The Loyd was easier to drive and faster than the smaller Universal carrier, and it served post-WW2 with many countries for many years.
This 1/35th scale resin model kit by Leon Hassing and Rob Tearle depicts the 6 Pr. Anti-Tank Gun towing version, equipped to transport the gun crew and some ready use 6 Pr. rounds and gun spares including spare wheel. As a general rule each 6 Pr, gun had two carriers, one towing the gun and a second carrier for further ammunition. Sometimes the 2nd carrier would tow a 10cwt GS trailer (see our kit K143) with more ammunition and stores.
The kit includes extensive engine and internal detail, etched brass detail fret, appropriate stowage, Bren gun, ammunition stowage and a general decal set. Extension 6 Pr. shields are also included (although they are not often seen in combat use). Also included are spare wheels to match the Taimya 6 Pr. or Resicast 6 Pr. anti-tank guns. We recommend the Resicast 6 Pr. Anti-tank gun as the best partner for this kit. Many thanks to Resicast for thier cooperation with this part of the project.
