CHURCHILL ARV Mk-I
This comprehensive 1/35th scale conversion set by Jon Bottomley & Rob Tearle converts the AFV Club Churchill kit* into the Armoured Recovery Vehicle Mk-I which served in all British WW-2 units equipped with the Churchill tank and variants. British “ARV’s Mk-I” were recovery tugs which carried spares, tools, welding equipment and basic recovery, towing and lifting gear and were always based on the tanks they would work with.
The vehicle hull armament was retained and a twin AA “Pugh” mounting added. The set includes hull AFV interior detail for sponsons and drivers compartment with BESA M.G., ARV welding equipment, weapon stowage and deployed AA “Pugh” twin BREN mounting.
All exterior ARV equipment is supplied and comprises; deployable lifting jib with block and tackle, drawbars, Hollebone yoke, holdfast stowage, snatch block, vise, external fuel tank and a full 100 foot towing cable. In addition a number of fine brass etched details are provided to improve the basic kit and for the conversion.
As a bonus we also correct the front kit idlers to the correct 8-hole pattern on the inner drum, and a set of full colour decals with a selection of markings are also included.
*Any AFV Club Churchill kit may be used as a basis; buy the cheapest one! As the ARV-I had no winch, a 45-Ton Tracked Recovery trailer was also produced to be used with this ARV (see first picture).
This product is a Conversion set and a donor plastic kit is needed to make the vehicle shown in the images.
