CHURCHILL ARV Mk-II (+Interior)
This comprehensive 1/35th scale conversion set by Jon Bottomley, Rob Tearle and Derek Hansen converts the AFV Club Churchill kit* into the Armoured Recovery Vehicle Mk-II which served towards the end of WW2 in British units equipped with the Churchill tank and variants.British “ARV’s Mk-II” were far better equipped than the original ARV Mk-1 recovery tugs (C064) and featured a very high capacity internal winch and rear spade. Also carried were spares, tools, welding equipment and all basic recovery, towing and lifting gear.
The vehicle hull armament was retained. The ARV Mk-II served in all UK theatres of operation including Korea, in support of Churchill and Centurion until the introduction of newer (and faster!) Centurion ARV’s Mk-1 and Mk-2 (K082). For beach operations the ARV towed the 45-Ton Tracked OROLO trailer (K189) This set also includes hull AFV interior detail for sponsons and drivers compartment with BESA M.G., ARV welding equipment, complete winch and winch controls, crew seating and No-19 Radio set, these can be viewed via the removable roof plates which were un-bolted for maintenance.
All exterior ARV equipment is supplied and comprises; fully detailed superstructure with filled stowage bins, deployable lifting jib with pulley, rear spade and A-frame, drawbars, Hollebone yoke, holdfast stowage, snatch block, vise, external fuel tank and a full 100 foot towing cable. In addition a number of fine brass etched details are provided to improve the basic kit and for the conversion.
As a bonus we also correct the front kit idlers to the correct 8-hole pattern on the cast inner drum**. Also included is an extensive full colour decal set with options for six vehicles and generic markings for WW-2 and post war vehicles.
This product is a Conversion set and a donor plastic kit is needed to make the vehicle shown in the images.*Any AFV Club Churchill kit may be used as a basis; buy the cheapest one! **Also available as A158 to correct AFV Club gun-tank kits
