Loyd Carrier Starting & Charging
The Loyd Carrier was first introduced in 1940, and became an indispensable vehicle in WW2 British and Commonwealth Infantry, Artillery and Tank units in a multitude of roles. The Loyd was easier to drive and faster than the smaller Universal carrier, and it served post-WW2 with many countries for many years. This 1/35th scale resin model kit by Leon Hassing and Rob Tearle depicts the Starting and Charging version. The starting of tank engines from cold, and the need to maintain a wireless watch proved to be a great strain on tank batteries.
This version of the Loyd was equipped with batteries, charging unit, slave, test and repair equipment and the constant ‘friend’ of Allied AFVs’The kit includes extensive engine and internal detail, etched brass detail fret, appropriate stowage, all battery and equipment boxes and a general decal set.
